2006 R-350 with Airmatic
? Choosing R350 Replacement Tires

The original Continental tires on my R-350 (w/Airmatic) wore out at about 30,000 miles. The replacement Michelin Latitude Tour HP (V-rated) are down to the wear-bars after only 11,000 miles. Normal mix of highway and city driving - not very aggressive (except on rare occasions).
The MB dealer says this is "normal", but I want longer tire life. What about the 80,000-mile Goodyear Assurance TripleTred (235/65R-17)? - I have them on my Ford Crown Vic Sport (VERY aggressive driving) and love them. The MB dealer says no - that anything other than the Continental or Michelin Latitude will "severely affect the handling and ride comfort". Help!!!
