Do you have to put TPMS on aftermarket rims?

Hey I was wondering If I get after market 19'' rims for my 08 w211 e350 do I have to put the tpms system on my new rims? What will happen if I don't? Will I get an error message or anything?

Thanks for the help

John

Assuming you're talking about the '08, you don't have to do anything. The system resets after about 10 minutes of driving. You can also reuse the TPMS sensors from your existing wheels. It's an easy swap and competent tire installers know how to do it. Of course, if you're buying complete tire/wheel packages, it means dismounting and remounting costs.
