For a stock 235/45/17 all-season tire, does it make any sense to go with 245/45 for a little extra width, or is it best to stick with 235/45?

the 245 would offer no real benefit so, I would opt for the 235 on those 17x8 E430 sport wheels

What is the optimal size tire for a 17"x7.5"rim? Original equipment on my car was 215 55R 16

If it matters I am looking at buying a 3 season tire and using my original rims as dedicated winter wheels.
