A-Class (w169)
newbie question: bolt thread
saw this come up when i was looking for some alloy wheels....
ive got the new shape A-Class (w169) and saw that the older shape ( and some other mercedes cars....mainly the older ones) have a different size bolt thread..
eg. "The alloy wheels for the Mercedes 169 series use a PCD5x112, centre bore 66.5mm and M14x1.5 bolt thread
The alloy wheels for the Mercedes 168 series use a PCD5x112, centre bore 66.5mm and M12x1.5 bolt thread"
does that mean that the wheels from the w168 wont fit the w169....or would it need to be modified????

From what I can gather the studs on the hub are upsized with the new model. In my case the W204 c-class now has 14mm studs and as a result the W203 wheels cannot be used. They will not fit without mod'g the wheel so that studs on the same bolt circle and pitch can pass through but I would never mod a wheel though, the cost of the right wheel isn't that great.
