That's what MBUSA's site says. There were 300+ or so 500's sold that year, but only 167 600's.
They now have U.S. sales quantities for all models in their StarMark section. They used to only show data for pre 95 models.

Yeah, those cars are really rare. I guess nobody wanted to pay $90K for a 500 or $137K for a 600 only 1 year from the new S's and Coupes. Makes your car the "old" body style really soon.
