symptoms tie rods?
Can anyone tell me how I know if I need new tie rods. Tires wearing unevenly, I know it needs an alignment (ML320, 2001) Just started making a barely perceptable vibrating like noise (hard to describe) sounds like it is coming from the rear, teenage daughters drive this car, needs to be safe. I'd prefer to buy the tie rods from autohaus and have local mechanic replace, then take it to the stealership for the alignment. Any thoughts?

Needs to be inspected for mechanical part looseness. However a noticeable method for identifying a possibly worn front end part is inspecting the tires for 'toe' wear.
The tire itself may be visually hard to see, but running your hand from outside to inside (or vice versa) is the easiest way to tell. Here is a picture of 'toe' wear on your tires.

Here is a picture of generally how 'toe' wear actually occurs.
