Upgrade Need all the help I can get

Hello, Ok here's the deal. I dont know much about wheel and suspension upgrades so I need some help. I am looking to upgrade my 2000 E240. It's all factory standard now, after 50000KM :p
What Im planning to do is start of with the suspension and brakes. Any Ideas of what would give me a good comfort level and sporty driving when needed. Also for the brakes which would be good and what are the parts that I need to order. I am looking at installing Brembo's but do I need to get rotors, or just pads? If both what do i need to order from their website. Finally, I am going to install Bridgestone S-03 Pole Positions Tires Next week. This will be the first thing to change and then by next month the suspension that you guys recommend then brakes. By August I should have put in Kleeman Mods or Brabus don't know yet. All help is appreciated and I know this is alot but help a guy out in this field :p thanx a lot

If you are putting bigger brakes, obviously you will have bigger calipers, and if you have bigger calipers, you will then need bigger wheels. If you have bigger wheels, you might have to roll your fender if you are going to do suspension mods (depends on how big are your wheels). Its kind of like a chain reaction, one thing leads to the other. But if you're getting new tires, then your tires will not last very long because you'll be getting bigger wheels.....maybe you should have a better plan to start off this mod.

My recommendation is to change the wheels and suspension first. Make sure your car handles better. Or maybe get some cosmetic upgrades later. Depends on whether you will do any engine tuning, brakes upgrade can be a yes or no. I dont see any need to upgrade the brakes if your car is not drastically faster.

Hope this helps.

I see, thanks Harris...
Do you think I should start later maybe? I am gonna upgrade the wheels to 18" my wheel well is like the regular E320 in US. I went around today and decided to put Toyo TS-1's on my current setup which is factory standard. And I am planning an engine upgrade just later on after I finish the suspension and brakes. Any recommendations on a good suspension or springs?

Toyo T1-S is a good choice (see my other posts). Are you running 16" wheels now? If you think you will get 18" wheels later, why bother changing the tires now? Or do your tires have no thread left at all?

Suspensions....it really depends on your budget and need. I am using Renntech springs on my C32 now and I love them so much. Someone has Kleemann Speed Sensitive Suspension on his E55 and he said that is marvelous too. The least expensive way is to throw in a set of H&R or Eibach, but those are for the look more than performance.

Yeah right now its stock to the bone, and my tires are all gone. I kept it stock for so long cause my parents use it also. Still 6 months to go for my license but my dad bought the car for me. Also I'm not looking for looks. Infact I prefer the way it looks and just want mods that don't alter appearance. Maybe if it shows a slight drop thats not a problem Anything else is a BIG NO.

As for suspension Budget, I'm looking at around $1000 - 1500 MAX on suspension. Also is the suspention change just springs? or do I change the cups to for better performance.

mar7aba,

i'm doing my suspension work too on my 560sec.

there's to ways to start:

1- either getting the wheels

2- or lowering the car.

if your getting the suspension from the states, i'd lower the car first then go shoping for wheels, because controlling the wheel size according to the space you have would be easier than sending the suspension back to the states.

if lowering is what you want, which means lowering your center of gravity, then springs are the way to go. i know labor is cheap in kuwait, so installing shocks later would be better.

i also don't see anywhere in kuwait that you can drive real fast for long periods, so springs should be the choice. coilovers are much more expensive and you wouldn't like the ride on your streets.

or course, i a place like kuwait, i wouldn't do ANYTING with the engine untill i do the brakes, i know how hot the asphalt gets in the summer, and it's slippery. i know, i used to live there.

if your going 18's i have several suggestions for wheels that you may like, factory AMG or aftermarket.

here's some,

BBS CH
AMG monoblock II
BBS LM (expensive)
Carlsson 2/6 brilliant
Carlsoon 2/5 Brilliant
Carlsson 1/5

go to www.tirerack.com and see what they offer for your car.

goodluck and tell me what you think.
