Suspension mod

Anyone has experience the aftermarket modification shop called Streetwize in Fremont, CA? They have a mediocre website at http://www.streetwize.com/. Visited them last week and quoting $1400 to upgrade my 2002 E320 suspension to Bilstein and H&R springs. (parts and labor) They recommend Bilstein due to a more comfortable ride comparing to the ultra stiff Koni. The only drawback is that they don't do alignment in house. The shop is quite small and all the folks working here seems to be some teenagers and yet there are a lot of highly modified luxury vehicles.

Are there any other recommendations here in the Bay Area, CA?

Thanks in advance!!

Interesting, I have always heard that H&R/Bilstein give a stiffer feel than the koni/H&R. Or i could have gotten it wrong.

Yes they have done a lot of high end cars but if you don't feel comfortable just find another place, there are many more shops that can perform a "simple" suspension job.

But sorry I don't know of any good shops in the BA.

I think they have the Bilstein/Koni comparison backwards.

Bilstein Sports=ouch
Koni Adjustables=soft - medium - ouch

Maybe Bilstein HD

Maybe they were refering to the Bilstein HD and not the Sports. Hey, I thought the major component that gave a harsh ride was really the springs, not the shocks. Of course the shock would contribute, but I think it is really the springs.

Shocks make a HUGE difference in the ride quality. Doing springs alone may provide a harsy ride, but this would be because they are not matched with the correct shocks.

Try calling TW Motorsport in Cambel (south San Jose). I had my H&R springs installed there, and they are pretty good. Call and ask for Steve or Mike. This shop has done lots of work for bay area football players. Cost is not too high either. They do their own alignment in house.

Good luck.
