Can you really find out if the BBS CH (18X8.5) will fit on a 2005 SL55AMG?.
As per BBS web site this wheel is not listed for the SL55.
Also instead of mounting a 255/40-18 tire, can a 245/45-18 can be used?

If you're going to use this for your primary...
street application, I dont' think you're going to be happy. It's too small, and the narrower rear wheel just isn't the best look on a 230. If you want to check the application, go to the BBS internation website (google it, I think it's bbs.com now, used to be bbs.de). Just my .02....
