winter wheel question

I am starting to prepare for my first winter in the car, and have decided to get a second wheel/tire package. I've done some reading on tires, but have yet to decide on wheels, but want to go 240/40/18 all around. i think they're 18 x 8"

1) Can you tell me what the front oem wheel specs are (offset being key i guess). or better yet, what range of specs would be acceptable to allow me to mount 245/40/18 tires and fit (i.e., looking at used rims and i dont know what fits and does not fit)

2) i dont want to necessarily run expensive rims in the winter (salt will damage them, hence looking at used rims as above), and saw several affordable wheels on TR (e.g., MSW Type 11 with black accent) that would presumably fit the car (18 x 8, offset =35mm). It indicates I would need "centering rings," what is that all about? why necessary? I dont like the idea of spacers or other hardware. pls educate me

thanks!

this shows the oem staggered set up that came on it (not that it matters)

depends on the weather
wheel specs
18x8
35mm offset
5-112 bolt pattern
66.56 center bore

tire size
245/40-18

all four can be the same but, brkae clerarance is critical and even with the correct wheel specs not all will clear those huge calipers. Any wheel you find listed for your car on TireRack.com is guaranteed to fit correctly
