Will 215-50-17 fit 2005 E500 4matic
Hi,
I have 2005 E500 4matic, no TPMS.
I am about to buy new set of winter tires. My previous Pirellis's Wintersport 240 lasted for 2 winter season (around 20K km, not miles) and while complaining to a person in the store he suggested to go with narrower tire telling me that 215s would definitely fit.
We check originals 245-45-17 diameter and it's said it is 25.7.
Now, the 215-50-17 (Pirelli 210 Sotozerro) he suggests is 25.5 diameter. He claims that they would fit without a problem.
Another alternative was 225-50-17 and diameter on those is 25.9.
If I decide to go down in size (narrower) what would be a better fit and would it give me longer thread life?
Question 2:
Looking at some MB replica wheels, I found some that have offset 35. I believe original offset on original rims is 38.
Would these replicas with offset of 35 fit without problem. How high/low can I go with the offset when choosing alternative rims.
