Fitment Question for Luke

Luke, I'm considering AMG 5 spoke 203s (18 x 8.5"R and 18 x 7.5" F) for my 2000 CLK 320 and I noticed that Tirerack's suggested tire size for the rear is 255/35. First, why the drop to 35 in the rear? Second, will 245 in the rear fit on the 8.5s? Or is a 245 rear not a drastic enough difference from the front? My motivation here is that I'd like to go with ultra performance all season tires, so I'm limited size wise.

Finally, do you have the 18" AMG double spokes?

Thanks.

depends on the weather
if you look into the sizing a little deeper here's what you will find

OE tire
205/55-16 = 25"

the plus size you are looking into
225/40-18 = 25"
255/35-18 = 25"

other size which are wrong
245/40-18 = 25.7"
245/35-18 = 24.3"

that is why it is the correct size for the plus size application you are considering
