Anti-sieze compound?

I took my aftermarket rims off but had to struggle with a few lug bolts because they felt like they were about to seize on the wheels permantly. I used a cross bar and they would not budge at all, got a inpact wrench and still no loosening. I nearly stripped the head on the lug and was getting quite worried I would have to damage the wheels to remove them. Is it safe to use anti-sieze compound on the lugs to prevent history repeating itself for me?
