2003 SL500 18: AMG's on a 97 - Will they Fit??
Hello All:
My first post.
I looked as best I could in the 129 forum and this well run forum.
As this seems the best one to ask in here goes.
I am in need of help/advice for two questions:
#1: Will the 18" AMG's off an '03 SL be ok on a '97?
From what I have read (please understand I know
a little knowledge is a dangerious thing... and all
I have is a little knowledge!) the offset is 30mm (F)
and 35mm (b) for the '03's. I can not find a clear offset
for the '97 sports but I have seen them listed from
20 to 30mm.
I am adrift...
#2: I have seen some wheels advertised saying that different
lug bolts are required for "stock" 17" SL '03's on a '97. Is this
the case?
#2.A If 2 is true ,and the AMG's will fit, where would a fellow
(who has not bought lug bolts from after the time that chrome
rims and baby moons were in style) order them and what would
that poor fellow describe them as?
Thanks for your consideration and time,
Joe

18x9.5 ET33 rear
W129chassis
18x8.5 ET25 front
18x9.5 ET23 rear
and the w129 uses 12mm lug hardware and the w230 uses 14mm lug hardware

Thanks Luke....
I have found I am quite fond of the thin spoke AMG's (like
the 2003 18's) over the older "thicker" stars. Is there
something like them on the horizon for older SL fitment
comng to your company in the near future?
Again thanks for your time,
Joe
