Luke & Everybody Else
Currently the ride is supple --it hugs the on ramps at 60 and feels like butter and going over bumps and the like is no sweat. I want to keep it like this but drop the ride height a tad bit.
In terms of lowering the ride, which springs would work for me the best? And how harsh of a ride would I get from each recomendation? Note that I plan to got to some 17 with low profile tires.
In terms of handling and ride quality, according to my mechanic, I have Mcpherson Strut *** w/sport package all around. What are my replacement options that allow me to keep the supple feel and responsiveness of my ride?
I read somewhere that changing out the spring only will have a negative effect on the shocks causing them to fail in about a year --normal wear. Is this, generally, true.
Finally, how much sense does it make to just cut a loop off of my current springs to lower the ride.
Thanks,
#2.) My choice in spring make for your car would be Eibach the drop would be apporx. 1.1"
#3.) your shocks will wear at a faster rate with a performance spring because of the higher rate ...
#4.) it is a VERY BAD IDEA to cut a spring
hope this helps
I have 17x8 AMG sport replicas with Falken Azenis ST 115 (215/45/zr-17) all around. Here is my issue:
1) I have stock suspension all around but the front looks lifted while the rear rubs when going through shallow dips and over small/medium bumps. Should this configuration result in rubing at all?
I could be that the rear is sagging but I am not sure. Other than eyeballing, is there are a technical way to determine if the rear is sagging?
2) I am also considering upgrading the shocks and the springs --to get the lowered look and sportier though supple ride, which shocks would you recomend and what are their prices. Some time ago you told me that Eibach would be best for me. What is its going price?
Thanks for responding.
