Tyres for an (oops, er) BMW....

Luke (or any other knowledgeable type~):

Could you kindly advise me.....

I have three Mercs in the business, but need to retyre my own 530d Touring. Have had Pirelli P 6000's which lasted 26,000 miles, but near the end they are noisy and very bumpy.

Want to retread with quiet, soft riding tyres but cannot source Yokohamas TDC DB's that apparently are very quiet. What's my best other option?

The size is 235 45 ZR 17 Y - can I up the profile to say 55 to get a softer ride?

Performance is not an issue, perhaps low rolling resistance is, but the car is pretty economical as it is.

depends on the weather
you can not go up to 55 series tires because it will alter the overall diameter ....

the tire I would suggest is a summer only tire with excellent dry and wet traction as well as tire life

introducing the SZ50 EP

I'm in the UK, would happily buy from you otherwise. The UK does not have these (Firestone EP) tyres yet....

Have settled on Goodyear Eagle F1's as next best option, unless you advise otherwise.

Heard they wear faster, but are quiet, comfortable and great in the wet. Car came with Dunlop SP2000, reshod with P6000. Didn't like either.
