I'm new to this forum but I need some advice. My wife has a 2004 E320 that we bought new. It came with 17 inch tires. About 2 years ago we bought custom rims that we a size 18 and put 225/40 on them. Well about 6 months ago my wife's father told her that the car rides really bad and now that's all I ever here. She has it set in her head that the rims are the cause because that's what her father told her. I need to either go back to factory rims or find a tire commbination that will give this car a smooth ride on 18's. Can someone please educate me on what will make this situation better.

Before spending more money or changing those rims, have you ever checked the wheels if they were bent? If you have a bent wheel(s), then the faster you go, the bumpier the ride.

Agreed. 17 to 18 shouldn't affect the ride quality that much.
