Your configurator says yes, but Nitto's tire configurator says must use 9" wide wheel.

Have you done this safely before? and what would you recommend as quietest/smoothest ride for that series tire?

You can fit it but it is not recommended. Much better to use the 265 on a 9 or 9.5 inch rear wheel.

BTW Luke is out until Monday so i'll try to help in his absence. I spoke to him yesterday and he isn't feeling well.

what are the side effects of running 265s on 8.5" wide wheels?

i've heard of people fitting 275s on 8.5" wheels. and if it is unadviseable, why does tirerack's fitment guide show 265s as the recommended rear tire size on their carlsson wheels???

LUKE, please advise!!!

Not Luke, but i'll try..

The Carlsson rear wheels for that car should be 18x9. 5 not 18x8.5. The staggered setup should be F 18x8.5 with 225/40/18 or 235/40/18 and R 18x9.5 with 255/35/18 or 265/35/18. If you have the 18x8.5 rims all the way around, you can use the 225 or 235/40/18 al the way around.

If this doesn't answer your question, call him at 18004450179 ext 362. He will be in his office tomorrow.

depends on the weather
The 265 minimum requirement is a 9" width. The reason it shows on our web site for the Carlsson wheel is because they are available in a 9" width and a 10" width when you are using a stagered fitment. A tire when installed on a wheel that is to narrowwill have much more sidewall roll and deflection reducing it's cornering ability, traction and tire life.
