front set is different from the rear set

Got my clk500 a couple of weeks ago and I just noticed that my front set is Bridgestone while the rear set is Continental. The front and rear are different size on this car anyway so I cannot rotate them front to back. That is not my concern. I am wondering if different thread patterns would affect the stability of the car. I don't know whether my car needs tire balance but the car steering shakes a bit when going over 65mph. What 'ya think?

Did you check to see if any of the tires are worn from the insides? Also, I would re balance all the tires.

depends on the weather
sounds like either a balance issue or the difference in rolling resistance between the two different tire brands is cause a drive line shudder

First your car probably has a staggered set of wheels 8" in front, 9" in rear or something similar, so no you cant rotate.

If you have after market wheels you may be missing a centering ring or even a bent wheel.

Sometimes a tire has lateral movement which will cause a vibration. A warped rotor believe it or not can also cause a slight shimmy
