Tire question on CLS550 with 20' HRE's!!!

I asked this question on CLS section of the forum and after 406 hits, no respons so I am posting it here in the Tire/wheel section.

I currently have 20' HRE 943R's on my CLS550

Front set up is 20x9 (+31 offset) with 245-35-20 tires
Rear set up is 20x11 (+25 offset) with 275-30-20 tires

I am thinking of changing out the tires both front and rear tires for couple of reasons. The tires size I want to use are:
Front 255-35-20
Rear 295-30-20

I work and live in greater LA area so there are lots of pot holes and bumps so I want to give my front wheels as much protection as possible. By changing the fronts to 255-35-20, because of the diameter and width of the tires, I am pretty sure it will give better protect against pot holes and bumps for my front wheels. I am also thinking of changing out the rear tires to because my current tires (275-30-20) give stretched look on my rear which I really don't like and also the guys who put my tires on told me that its not safe to drive around with stretched tires because there are not enough side wall sealing the air with the outer edge of the wheels so on a hard turn, it my leak air.
Both 255-35-20 and 295-30-20's are 27 inches in diameter which will make the front and rear even. My current setup 245-35-20 is 26.8 inches and 275-30-20 is 26.5 inches so there aren't much difference in diameter other than the tires will be little wider and little taller.

My car is currently dropped with Links which give me just tad less than 2 finger gap both in front and rear. I can always adjust up if needed.

Anyone have any idea if the new tires setup will work? Anyone currently running 255-35-20's in the front and 295-30-20's in the rear?

Any input will be greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Only MBs - the best or nothing
255/35-20 will not fit front without constantly rubbing against bolt just above it. 295/30-20 will not fit rear as well, but 285/30-20 just might (maybe).

Your current setup - 245/35-20 front 275/30-20 rear - are the tallest sidewall sizes you can safely run on CLS without any rubbing.

I bet you've got 305/25-20 (26" - stock hight) not 305/30-20 (27.2") that your reply suggests.

He wanted to use 295/30-20 (27"). Hope you understand implications of width vs. hight and the misinformation that your post suggested.

Has anyone ever tested this theory? I would like to know if that would work. (Attemping to go through the dreadful task of finding a set of winter tires that will fit )
