noise when shifting gear
HI I bought a ML500 2006. When I shift gear from P to D or R or vice versa or any direction in gear shift is made, it makes noise.
Funny thing is sometimes it sounds really loud but sometimes it is not as big.
I bought it to the dealership and checked it but of course they said it is an ok thing.
Do any of you have the same noise? Is it ok?
Thanks

HI Luke
It sounds like noise when you put something in the sand and move it back and forth. It is really annoying. The level of noise changes depending on some factors, which I dont know. Sometimes it is very loud and sometimes it is not as loud.

year 2000 model E-320 210 chassis
It may be a bushing below the shifter, if its worn it will make a metalic clinking/clicking type of sound... I had that problem with my E-320. Once changed you won't hear a thing!
If that's what it is its a relatively easy fix, you can order the part from Autohause AZ for a couple of bucks and have a mechanic put it on if you don't have a lift.... I think the part is called shifter link bushing. Its a metal clip, and a green rubber bushing.
They have the DIY on benzworld (For the E-320) but that will give you a better idea of what you may need.
