hi
i have recently bought a 2001 c320 and the parking brake has stopped working .i have replaced the plastic ratchet wich works fine ,but the brake will not stay engaged . i have looked at the mechenisum and all seems to be fine does anyone have any idea's

I've got the same problem on mine - the pedal will not stay down!

The parking brakes engage but the pedal will not stay down and springs back up - hence the parking brakes are then released!

I have exact same problem as well.

Has anyone been able to fix it without replacing the whole parking brake assembly?

There is a pawl that wears out.. its not the plastic piece that holds its a metal tab...
but the problem is that you cant get the part seperatly.. have to buy whole assembly or hit up
some salvage yards

bummer. I took a good look at the pedal assembly and it looks like it is going to be pain in the *** to get it out..

Any tricks or shortcut tips?
