Snow Tires for GL450 2012 and 2014
1) I would buy run flats snow tires but my understanding is there are none for this vehicle. Correct?
You are correct there are no runflat winter tires in appropriate 18", 19" or 20" winter tires
2) I'm going to pick up a set of winter shoes for the big truck. I'm in NJ so we don't have a lot of deep snow. First question is which tire. I'm leaning more toward the Pirelli Scorpion with a 130mph speed rating vs the Blizzak DM-V1 with a 106mph speed rating. I do expect to drive briskly and I hate really soft sidewalls that wallow all over.
Michelin Latiutde Xi2 is rated at 118mph and that may be an option also.
In the Pirelli and Michelin, I'm looking at a 265/60/18 and a Elbrus I05 18x8 wheel. If I were doing the Dm-V1 I would step up to a 275/60/18, they seem to run narrow looking at the specs.
What tire do you suggest for NJ?
I agree with your thought process on this but, I would have you look at the Pirelli Winter Carving Edge as it will offer more snow traction than the Scorpion but, less squishy feel than both the Blizzak and Michelins in the dicussion
3) When my lease is up on the 2012, I expect to get a new body GL. Is there any difference between the 2012 and 2013 wheel/hub/brake/offsets? I'm wondering if a 18" wheel will fit the 2013. If not, I need to look at a 19" setup instead.
the wheel fitment for the 2012 and 2013 are the same but, there is no way to be 100% sure about the 2014
