Noise/whine - right rear end
First, as a newbie I appreciate this forum and all the helpful members. My 86 560SL has a periodic whining noise - sometimes two different pitches/tones - mostly happens on right-hand turns - not always though - and it always stops upon braking. The (unsuccessful) diagnoses so far: needs new break pads/rotor (no), oxidation on the rotor (no), an aftermarket dust shield (removed, but the whine remained), and the latest - a harmonic tone caused by the shape of the brake pads (filed down on side edges) - nope, it still whines on right hand turns (and occasionally on straight aways.). Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
