Doing Front Brakes on '03 E320
Does anyone know how to work with the onboard computer on the new W211 to enable you to change the front pads and rotors yourself? My dealer tells me only they can do the job.
Mine's a 2003 e320 sport.
I'd rather learn how to change these myself as in my hilly area, pads need replacing about every 16K

I just broke down and paid the dealer to do the brakes on my '03 e320. Suprisingly it was the back brakes, not the fronts. Why would it need backs before fronts? I'm thinking of contacting Mercedes to figure out what's up.

Well, I got 17K which would be reasonable for fronts to me, but I expected to not need to do the back brakes for 3 or 4 times that.
I'm hoping somebody knows how the home mechanic with a PC can disable FRED, (Frecking Ridiculous Electronic Device according to the tech) the onboard computer.
