I purchased these new HRE 948 wheels for my W221. These are new old stock from a dealer, custom made for the W221. They look great in design, but from the looks of it they appear to be not so new or am I being too picky
Interesting, some of those scuff marks are way too pronounced to ignore looks like the rims have been fitted out with tyres and mounted up to a vehicle before by the looks of it not something you'd expect to see if they were brand spanking new, don't know exactly what 'new old stock' means but those rims definitely look like they've had some prior use to me
Have you had any feed back from the dealer you ordered them from ??
New Old stock means these are new wheels but a few years old. I took off the blue tape and lip and face are in good condition, no scuffs or scratches.
Here is the message I got from dealer:
Hello, that set is entirely brand new, never mounted, not even test fitted. It was only removed from the boxes to take photos. That blue tape you see is the seal that HRE provides from the factory (once it's off you can't put it back). If you see any minor marks on the inside of the wheel, it can happen because the inside of the wheel is not finished. Its raw. Once a tire is mounted, you will never see the inside of a wheel. There should be no marks or blemishes on the outside of the wheel, aka the face or outer lip. I look forward to seeing some photos of the wheels mounted. Keep in mind HRE recommends to go with tires with a rounded sidewall, such as Pirelli (stay away from Michelin). Enjoy!
