New Lugnuts for new wheels??

What's up Luke?

I just purchased rims for my sports coupe.

18x7.5 front and 18x8.5 rear

is the correct tire for these rims 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear?

also I just read on another post that I will need new lugnuts

is that correct, why?

Thanks for your help.

You won't need new lugnuts,

but will probably need longer bolts to attach your new wheels to the car.Assuming the old wheels were steel, the point at which the bolt passes through the wheel to the car's hub is thicker with your new (aluminum?) wheels. The bolt length needs to be adjusted to allow for this.
What really matters is how far the bolt protrudes beyond the inner edge of the wheel's hub-too long, and the parking brake gets expensively unhappy.Too short, and you might lose a wheel while driving.

A general rule of thumb is to make sure you can get 7 full turns, when tightening the lug nut.
