Wheels/Tires for 2011 E350 Carbriolet

Wheels/Tires for 2011 E350 Carbriolet
Hello All:
Recently purchased the above vehicle. Time to buy winter tires (and even if I don't buy new tires, the ones on it now will need replacement in the Spring at about 35K miles).
Currently has 245/45-17 on all four wheels; however, the owners' manual seems to indicate there should be 235/45-17 on all four OR 235/45-17 on front and 255/45-17 on rear. My concerns are:
1. I don't know what size to buy: the size I now have (Continentals, appear to be original) or the size the owners manual recommends.
2. What is the reason for different sizes on front and rear? How do I know which I should have?
3. Will the current wheels accommodate 235, 245, 255/45-17 tires or do I need to change wheels (I think the ones I now have are original--five spoke chrome).
4. If I need different/new wheels, where is a good place to find those that will work best (including dealer, if that is the best thing to do.)

235/45-17 or 245/45-17 would work on your E350 ...
