Hi all,
My current tires are 255/30/21 front; 285/30/21 rear. Tires came with the wheels and have great tread (9/32) but are 11 years old. Many articles and my shop say that tires older than 8 years should be replaced based upon age alone.
The tech at America's Tire says my car requires load index of 96 or higher. The 255 width tire has 93 load rating. The 265 width tire has a rating of 96.
Is there any issue with my running a 265/30/21 on the front with this set up? 255 is recommended by Tire Rack. Is the 93 load index for front tires a critical issue? Any info on this would be much appreciated.

Our website is incorrect. The 255/30-21 does not have the proper load capacity. We are changing it ASAP to recommend the 265/30-21.

Thanks for the information. Based on the recommendation of a local shop, I went with front tires of 245/35/21 (load index 96); with rears 285/30/21. Using the calculator at 1010tires.com, the total diameter variance with this set up is negligible (0.07%) and perfect for my CL550 4matic.
