Talking Newbie in upgrade, lessons for me please

Hi, I have a 1995 C280. Haven't thought of upgrading until recently. Can someone please give me a brief lesson on the things I can do? Such as:

Brakes - Can I just change the rotors and pads, leaving the other parts of the brake system.

Suspension - Can I just change the springs? Or I need to change the cup kit (whatever that is)?

Chip???

Exhaust - Are there any exhaust that will improve performance but no noise? I hate noise.

Thank you very much.

If there are any sites that describe the above, I would like to read...

Thank you.

Exhaust: a bit for looks and a bit for performance. there are many varieties out there from fairly silent ones to power-robbing noisy ones. u can also get a racing catalytic converter exhaust system to obtain better flow. look for somewhere between 5-10 hp gains.

Chips: works better for turbo/supercharged engines than normally aspirated engines like urs.

Springs: you can change just the springs. in certain cases, it would be fine to leave the original shocks in. in cases where it's not, the springs are too stiff for the shocks to compensate for and the resulting ride is exaggerated up and down motion over bumps (like some ricers); u'd need to upgrade the shocks then.

Brakes: rotors and pads. should be no problem. pads is a personal choice; do u want less dust, more bite, more quiet, etc.? rotors have two opposite issues. for slotted and/or cross-drilled rotors, they are advertised to give u better bite (cross-drilled, the holes removes the hot gasses that might develop during heavy brake use, symptoms include brake fade), or better heat resistance/warp resistance (slotted). and they look cool . on the flip side, there is less surface area. it's really a personal choice; however, most likely, one will not really experience the better performance unless on a track.

Lightbulb What about brake sensor?

Do I need a new brake sensor with these slotted or cross drilled rotors.

What do the sensors do??

Thanks.
