I might be pretty late to reply but profile 30 is bit too low for front wheels. I have 245/35/20 in front, on 20x9 rim.

I would suggest 245/35/20 all around, if you want more meatier tires then i think 255 should do it too. All ikw is that don't go staggered on AWD, mine is just RWD. I have 20x9 n 20x10.5

That shouldn't be the case. I have 245/35/20 and it is slightly streched and I can easily run 255 or maybe even 265? That gives the tires more meatier look.

What was the reason the 245/35/20 didn't fit on 20x8.5? Due to my understanding, 245 should fit 8.5in wheel perfectly.

if you mesure my stockwheels 245/40/18 to 245/35/20 its a differance in 1 inch in diameter
in my world it would be perfect becuse you have to dived it with 2
so the new rim/ with tire is about 1/2 inch higher than original
but i fitted a michelin 245/35/20 on one rim and tryed to fitt on front
unfortanly the tyre dont fitt as its mot enough space between tire and frontsuspension (lower springplate)

so my question is what car do you have and what tyre?
my car is a 350 2015 model with amg sportpackage

i still thing if the rim was 9 instead of 8.5 maybe thats the answer but im not sure
im thinking going 255/30/20 or 245/30/20
but loadindex on tyre will suffer damage

Hmm, that's a bit weird i think. It should fit. Only thing I think is, like you said, the rim could be 9 instead of 8.5. What set up do you have in rear? Since all wheels specs are the same.

Sorry, i misread your beginning part of 2015 model.
Well I have 06 E350 base model. It came with 225/55/16, 16x8.5in all around. I installed 20x9 n 20x10.5. 245/35/20 offset is abt +32(I'm going with 255/35 with next round) and rear is 275/30/20 +42 (going to go with 285/30 next round or maybe, if possible, I think I might try 295/30? lol) But ima go 285/30 for sure, 290 would be a test fit if how much rub i would get, if all because I rolled and pulled front fenders so will roll/pull the rears pretty soon.

You should not have any fitting problems with 8.5 in wheel in front at all. E class comes with great amount of space up front n back. Only possibility I can think of is the wheel width could be 9 instead of 8.5. Measure it
