w204 C-Class In for rear brake replacement, out with broken hub flange?
One for the mechanics...
Routine MB service on my 4 year old C Class, required new pads and discs on back. During the days after this work a really bad screeching came from rear end, not unlike that rare occasion a stone gets stuck somewhere near the braking parks. It reduced to a squeal only noticeable on a quiet drive - I put it in to get checked out as it as something was clearly not right, and it was a bit of a coincidence that it had just had work done on the back brakes.
Turns out it was a "broken rear hub flange" - replaced at no charge.
Not sure how a hub flange could become broken, and for there to be no charge when the car is out of warranty seemed a bit strange, although good news.
