2003 SL500 Sport Package
Wheels and Tire Pressure Monitoring

All -- Been told by my dealer (probably not the most knowledgeable) that the only Wheels that work with the MB Tire Pressure Monitoring System (2003 SL500 Sport Package) is the AMG Style III ( 8.5J X 18 ET 30 - 255/40 (Front) and 9.5J X 18 ET 33 - 285/35 (Rear))

Was wondering if there are any other style of wheels available or even if the AMG Style III is still available (which my dealer suggusted to me is no longer being made).

Any help would be appreciated.

NOTE: I already have a set of AMG Style III on the car per specs above and wanted to purchase another set of wheels ... so I can use one during the summer and one during the winter. I thought the 5-Hole Wheel (STAGGERED) 8.5 x 18 ET 35 255/40 R18 (Front)
9.5 x 18 ET 40 285/35 R18 (Rear) look really nice but was told they don't support tire pressure monitoring.

Again any suggustions / clarifications would be helpful.

Regards,

- rajs

I just had 20 inch BBS LM's installed on my 04 SL 600. The TPMS was not compatible per Carnutz in Bellevue, WA who did the install.

Do you still get the annoying Tire pressure warning message Reactivate tire pressure monitoring or visit workshop?

Even when you turn it off via the steering wheel controls, my messages still show...

Wolfman, I have not had time to investigate how to eliminate that message.
