Orig. MB rims A2124010402 fit E300 ?

Hi,

Looking for some rims for my 2008 E300 (w211.092) so that I can fit winter tires to them. I have a local seller with four original MB alloy rims. He's telling me the part number embossed on the rims is A2124010402.

I looked up this part number through Google and have determined that they are original for E300's. But the specs concern me. They are 8.5Jx17 ET48. Looking online, the recommended rims should be 7.5Jx16 ET42 with 225/55R16 tires, although it is possible to fit 8.5Jx17 ET38 rims and 245/45R17 tires to my car. What is the effect of the extra 10mm of offset have on the drivability of the car? Will I have problems fitting winter tires to these rims and still have enough clearance to the wheel wells?

Update: I researched the rims and found out that they wouldn't work properly on my vehicle. The offset was too much, about 5mm too much (5mm difference in offset is the allowed limit). That would upset the drivability of the car. I continued to search and found a set of CLK (w209) wheels that work well. Part B6 647 4161 from a 2007 CLK is 8J x 16 ET 32 making them only 4mm difference in offset. There were four rims fitted with new Bridgestone winter tires, perfect for my needs. The only downside was that the tires were 205/55/16 instead of 225/55/16, making them slightly smaller than stock.

Checked out the set of CLK wheels the other day. Everything was good up until I tried to test fit them on the car. The mounting bolts for the W211 won't go through the holes on the rim because the C-class use M12 lugs and the E-class use M14. Holes are too small.

Is it possible to drill out the mounting holes or will this be problematic?
