Mixed up S600

I just picked up a 1998 S600 and noticed after bringing it home that it has three different tire sizes! Here is what it has on the 18 inch (by 9-10 inch wide?) AMG chrome wheels:

RF - Conti ContactSport M3 255/40 ZR18 280AA
LF - Ventus 255/45ZR18
RR - Conti ContactSport 275/35 ZR18
LR - Conti ContactSport M3 255/40 ZR18 280AA

All of the Conti's look nearly new.

The stock tire size is 235/60 HR16 which is 27 in. dia.
The 255 Conti's spec at 26 in. dia and the 275 at 25.9 in. dia.

So I get 29 rev more for each mile with the 255's and 32 with the 275 over stock. (I think this is messing up my cruise control).

Here are my questions:

Do I buy one 275/35 ZR18 for the back and move the 255 to the front? (Does the .1 inch front to back make a difference?)

or,

Do I buy two 255/40 ZR18's and toss the 275 ($75 more)?

Do all four tires need to be the same dia for the ESP and cruise to work correctly?

I could get all 27 inch dia tires (255/45's) to match the stock dia but I like the lower look and the improved handling. And I don't want to buy four new tires right now.

What's the best setup when these wear out?

Please, no whining about the Conti's. I've read it all.

Thanks

In 1999 , last year of W140 In US there was a Black S500 Spesial edition that came in Black only and better lather inside and that car came with 255/45/18 wheels all around from factory. I have seen it at local dealership and it had once again 255/45/18 on AMG aero 2 monoblocks.

Which inspired me to drive last year of lease on my w140 signum 18x8,5. I stil have the wheels in the garage even though I switched to W220 .
Thats what the wheels look like but in this pic on C class

Thanks Luke,

You only list three tires in the 285/40-18 size. And only the Dunlop SP Sport 9000 and the Goodrich KDW-2 have the 255/45-18 size also. Is there a Pirelli 255/45-18 to go with the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S.

I'll give you a call.
