Z rated tires to T rated.

Z rated tires to T rated.
Now one of my relatives 600SEL needs tire replacement because the Michelin Pilot HX or something like that are all worn out. Size is P235/60ZR/16. Since she never goes over 70MPH, my dad wants to replace the car with T rated tires. Would you say this is safe because I told him to get at leats H rated tires.

If the car cam originally with Z rated tires, legally, most tire shops will not put a lower rated tire on the car, due to the liability if it fails.

Paul is correct but, you must also remember it's not all about the speed driven .... it has alot to do with the stress that car can put on a tire when braking, accelerating and cornering not to mention the weight being supported .... We would not even think about a "T" rated tire on a car like that for safety reasons
