New GT 63/R192 - Softening the Suspension

When comfort mode isn’t soft enough what’s the best/easiest way to soften the suspension-using the springs from the SL/R232?

With the suspension being active, the GT has a different tune than the SL. Even in Comfort mode it tries to keep the car as flat as possible while the SL rolls more. That ultimately affects comfort. There's a new AMG Inside episode that just came out that is all about the active suspension. Most of it is about the G63, but at the end they go into the GT. Don't know how good the subtitles bring out the nuances if you don't understand German, but it's a good episode.

The benefits of this suspension is that in a straight line the wheels can freely move independently for ultimate comfort, but as soon as you start turning, it will counteract roll. There are no roll bars. It's all hydraulic. Don't know what kind of roads you are driving on, but this thing is very comfortable from my experience given what it is. What tire pressure are you running, though? The one on the door sticker will be way too high. That's the max speed, max load tire pressure. You want to use the normal load pressure from the sticker inside of the fuel door for speeds up to 155 mph.

I am looking at one tomorrow for a possible purchase but the one I drove previously was sprung a bit too stiff as some of the roads here in N Cali aren’t the greatest.

I need to find out what parts from the 232 can soften the GT up a bit, thinking the springs would be the ticket, any thoughts on this?

Thanks for the vid will check it out.

Chances are that if you just test drove one, the tires were overinflated. Was this at a dealership? I have a standing order for them to not touch my tire pressure. They always inflate them to what's on the door sticker. Where in NorCal are you? I drive my C63S Coupe all over here. East Bay mostly and I have no comfort issues as-is, and the GT is more comfortable in Comfort than my C63. Sure, I have to avoid potholes and stuff and on really rough pavements on some roads that are way past needing new pavement it's gonna be rough, but even the springs from the SL won't make those roads smooth. Take a tire gauge with you and adjust the tire pressure. If you find that even with proper tire pressure it's still too stiff in Comfort mode, then I'm afraid but I have to say you need to look at a different car. I'm not even sure the SL springs have lower springs rates, but even if they do, you just gonna throw off the damping and active roll stabilization by putting in softer springs. Also, make sure they removed the shipping blocks.

Yes both are at same dealer, will check the tire pressure. Good point re a spring change and ARS, would luv to know the key differences between the 232 and 192’s suspensions and if reprogramming is possible/would help.
