Currently doing a wheel stud conversion on my clk280 c209.
For anyone looking to do the same swap with stock wheels, make sure you order the correct wheel nut seat. Ive read everything from R12,R13,R14 ball seat..
So obviously I had to measure for myself and concluded you need M12x1.5 R12 ball seat lug nuts.
Factory Lug Bolt from clk:
Factory lug bolt from W211 e280 has same seat and bolt thread. (Sports pack. Doubt that changes anything)
Will post the rest of the install once the rest of my parts arrive.
Plan is to drill out the threads on the hub, and ream to 1/2”. Then use press in wheel studs. Could use m12x1.5 thread in wheel studs and save the drilling procedure, but as this car is for track use Id prefer the peace of mind of press in.
Solid plan. Thanks for confirming the R12 ball seat spec that's a huge help for others. Press-in studs are definitely the right call for track use for a stronger hold. Good luck with the install.
