i was wondering if anyone can suggest proper way to refinish my wheel centers
looks like it is machined finish that been clear coated
wheels been purchased new from fellow member on this forum , have them on my car for 1.5 years or 15k miles and started to see some damage on the centers already
got ahold of manufacturer (AL13) and they mentioned harsh wheel cleaner that is the cause of it (...of course ...no surprise) , i use Koch Chemie on all my cars and this is the only set damaged
other people mentioned that because of the design it is impossible to properly cover those sharp edges and salt . chemicals etc will always be getting in tiny cracks or areas causing damage
well remove the tire and have the clear coat removed by chemicals, sanding or blasting.
then prep wheel by sanding surface until scratches gone and super clean polished almost finish...
then you can decide to paint with color and top coat w/clear or just clear coat..
or real bored - continue to polish until mirror like finish and just keep up with them after cleanings with metal polish like FLITZ
