Need shock absorber help
When my car hits certain bumps, the front wheels sometimes continue to bounce, causing an unsettling rattling/banging noise from the front wheels. Does this sound like shocks that need replacing. The two front shocks are leaking a bit.
Initially, I thought it might be a loose sway bar or something, but the local repair shop said that all other connections in the suspension seem tight. Therefore, they have deduced that it must be the leaky shocks.
If so, what is my best bang for the buck as far as replacement? Aftermarket versus OEM? I want the car to ride like it is stock (it is a '99 C280 Sport). I definitely don't want anything more aggressive than the OEM shock. Lastly, should I replace all of them, or just the leaky fronts (car has 83K miles).
Any thoughts or recommendations? I am very familiar with the aftermarket for Audi, as I heavily modified my former A4. However, I am a self-admitted novice when it comes to Benz.
