OE SL65 19" AMG 2PC Twinspoke Titanium w OE Potenza
For sale: 19" AMG 2PC Twinspoke Titanium with OE Potenza Tires
These were takeoffs from a 2007 installed onto my 1993 500E (pictured below). I have recently painted the lower cladding of the 500 to match the 199 body paint and after test re-mounting - the look is just a bit off. With the gray cladding the titanium of these wheels would make the whole car pop and match well. With a color matched body, the titanium is more of an eyesore especially in 19s. I'm sticking with my 18" SL 2PC AMGs...
Wheel Specs:
Front - A2114001202/A1714000302 8.5x19 ET30
Rear - A2114001402/A1714000402 9.5x19 ET31
Tires (Front and rear run custom camber adjustable mounts so tires are evenly worn)
Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
Front - 255/35R19 - 95%
Rear - 285/30R19 - 80%
The rears both have rash, one being the worst and the other very minor. One front wheels has a tiny mark as well. Pictures of all included below with rule for reference. These wheels have been climate controlled, laying flat, pressurized, and individually covered(as you can see the wheel wraps in the background of one of the pics - wraps not included in the sale).
Price: $2750 OBO *shipped* to the lower 48s. Shipping is not negotiable.

Yes, these were the OEM Wheel and Tire for the SL65 (and have read that they fit CL, CLS, E class for the same period: others, please check on your own before purchasing).
Love that wheel, but not for a 124.036 or anything in that period. Just too large and exposes too much of the rotor/caliper making everything look puny. Now if I had Stoptech, that would be another story...

As far as Stoptech, yeah that would work fine! Or a meaty AMG front caliper!

I can speak to fitting even a 275mm on the front of the 500E...no problem (with the right rim and offset)
Folks often under-estimate the ability of the the .036 to gobble up wide tires !![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Bump for a good dude/seller.

Thanks Jim.
Yes, the 124.036 can swallow some girth up front...and the rears, too. Front 255s on the 8.5s left plenty of room up front. Us 124.036 owners get that comment a lot, and moreso than not it's from veteran shop/wheel techs. My long time tech still comments to this day how I can run a 285 on a 10" wide wheel in the rear of the 500E...

Robert,
I enjoyed meeting you and attempting to purchase the wheels tonight. Too bad the 275/35 tires were to wide for the rear of the wagon because I really liked the way they looked on the car!
Forum members, Robert is a stand up guy and the wheels were everything he said they were and then some, no surprises when I showed up to make the purchase.
He even trial fitted the wheels and we went for a test drive to make sure everything was ok... The 275/35 was just too much meat for the rear fenders to handle and produced some slight scrubbing at stock ride height.
Just for fun, we pulled over for a quick photo shoot with the ELM lowered to the max![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Robert, I owe you a beer of your choice the next time I see you

Yes, I think it was the 35 series "square" sidewall and wide nature of the Potenza tires that killed the deal. A 265/30 or maybe even a 275/30 with a rounded sidewall (pilot PS2 or similar) should work, but it would cost me at least $650+ for new rear tires and then I would have over $3k in the setup. At this point I am in used 19/20 HRE/DPE or Gorman custom build territory.

thanks for the info, i was also wondering if the rear tire would rub on a E.

Bart, it was great to meet you, too. I was soooo bummed they didn't work. Not because I didn't sell the wheels; I don't *need* to sell these wheels moreso trying to thin the collection. More because 1) I want an E55 Wagon also, always did and have been eyeing them for a while to replace my E320 Sportline wagon and found out the 275 won't work 2) because they would've gone to someone that would've really enjoyed them. I think we can all agree that the look is sweet for the AMGWagon especially retaining the OE parts, and believe me, in person it looks even better than the pics. I was jealous...until we hit the first bump...
So a couple of comments for any potential buyer:
1. See my note about I don't NEED to sell these wheels. STOP LOW BALLING ME.
2. If you noticed, my post originally said 285. I switched to 275s and didn't make the correction on the original post. No worries, Bart and all other potential buyers were made aware of it at the initial contact, so there was no misleading - I just didn't get around to revising the post (yeah, I have better things to do than scour these boards, I'm sure most of you do too). So the size on the rear is 275/35/19s, same RE050A.
3. I skinnier tire would work given the geometry. I think a 265/30 in the RE050A would clear or like Bart suggested, another make with a different wall design which slopes more than the Potenzas. But let me digress to point #4...
4. I have seen these on a E55 sedan and there was a member with these on the E55 wagon which Bart had a pic of. If they were not rubbing, what were these members running in the rear?
5. Tires are back in storage...still for sale...and if not you'll see them on my next purchase: E55 Wagon or SL55.

The ad did not specify what tire size he was running, but I am guessing 285/30/19 by his for sale thread that was posted here, but I don't see how that could have fit?
https://mbworld.org/forums/wheels-ti...-potenzas.html
Here was another thread talking about W211's running SL65 wheels. It seems like most could get away with a 275/30 setup.

I also agree there is no need to low ball Robert. The front tires are $288 and rear tires are $314 from Tire Rack. That is $1,200 in tires before shipping, mounting, or balancing.
