2008 CLK550 TPMS Sensor
I've searched the threads and not found the answer to my question so here it is: I have the 2008 CLK550 Cabriolet. My dash told me I had a TPMS system not working. I took it to my local Discount Tire Store and they replaced the sensor with a Schrader 9398 as stated on the ticket, but I just talked to them and they said the Schrader number is 28214 . It looks just about like to OEM ones on the car. The light was still on after they replaced it. I showed them how to reset it since they couldn't find the reset button. It didn't reset and they told me to drive it and it would 'learn', which I thought was wrong but I did it anyway. The next day I took it back and they tried several sensors thinking they could make it work and even called someone at their headquarters that was supposed to be the 'expert' on TPMS and he finally told them to put my old non functioning sensor back in and refund my money.
OK, good deal, but it still doesn't work.
1. Is there a Schrader replacement for the sensor?
b. is it part number 9398 or 28214 ?
2. After it's installed, do they need to program the sensor or the connect to the OBD2 port on the car for anything?
Or,
3. Do I simply reset it on the dash and the little light will go out?
I see where a lot of folks get them replaced with aftermarket sensors and seem to have no problem. I think, if it's the correct sensor, they just got a bad one or did something incorrect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!,
Jeff B
