2002 ML500 full MB service history and only 73K miles. Only one bit of surface rust, passenger front wing with road spray.

My pet hare. Saved him as a baby, about two weeks old, as mother was dead and he was curled up beside her. Used goats milk until he started on solids and now he lives in my garden. I called him Harold

Bilstein B6 shocks, Bilstein springs (standard size), Front and rear discs and performace pads, (They will wear out quicker, but i can live with this)

I had to use 4x spring compressors as these coil springs are long and thin. Top mounts and springs are also Bilstein.

Genuine Mercedes throttle cable. The new one I got has nothing on it what-so-ever

If the cable had been stamped with the part number, this would never have happened. But because a generic part made under licence had no markings, it was hard to know it was not the correct cable.

Here I have the bicyle outer cable from the pedal side, to the engine side. I am going to attach the inner new cable to this and pull back through into the rubber grommet.

Make sure you us e a bit of force while wrapping round masking tape to hold them together as you are going to use quite a bit of force and pressure to mount it 100% in the rubber.

Removed old pedal, slowly and deliberately pulled on outer cable on engine bay side until white palstic sleeve came out of rubber grommet. Pushed through bicyle outer cable, through hole into engine bay.

Once you have pulled through the outer bicyle cable, back into the pedal hole with the new cable attached, start to remove the masking tape.

Slowly and deliberately, use a circular motion to get the white outer casing of the new cable to line up and start to pull through into the rubber grommet and make sure it seats perfectly, not lop-sided, or squint. The rubber grommet is not difficult to replace or put back in if you dislodge it. It goes in from this pedal side only.

I removed the slam panel to allow the rads to be pulled forward, just for easier access to the pulley belt tensionor and replacing the belt. .

The front end of the ML500 looks like it just came off the production line, absolute mint on all spray and panels. .

Dealers have to learn that 10 times the price for parts is criminal, so people learn to shop arround. Plenty of qualified people will give you free help and advice.

I had to use 4 spring compressors on the rear springs, as I do not have access to any hydraulic spring compressors, so did it old school.

This now is the front ride height, which is probably actually only now back up to factory pre-set height, as old shocks were not doing anything, to torsion bars were taking all the weight and strain.

I only had my wide-angle lens on, so sorry about the hazy image, but i could see and wave to both the jets, each only with one pilot up front. so this tells you how high up in the Uk mountains I am.

USAF jet flying right past me. They both did a two times over the UK flyover, which is normal, as they are up front, just checking via onboard equipment, no nutters have acquired any weapons to take a pot shot.

Just getting closer to let you all see the difference so far. I expect about 20-30 hours per side to do this as no industrial machines to use or help me.

Left side, before I have totally stripped it via hand tools. I have no polishing lathe, so all polishing will be done by hand, hour upon hour, until I get them finished

The start of hand polishing. Most people will use buffer wheels for quickness, but old school by hand is fine my end.
