After resurfacing ( 0.33mm was removed or 13 thousandths, according to Mercedes only a maximum of 0.3mm or 11.811 thousandths can be removed from the block & Cylinder heads combined . So technically I’m 1.189 thousandths over spec & I only resurfaced the cylinder heads . So there is no chance at trying to resurface my block either if I wanted to , the machine shop said they had to remove that much to get it flat & told me to use a thicker head gasket ?! .

Noticed this AFTER first pass with 350 grit , it later went away with 450/700 & I finished with 1000 grit , I did the same process for all the other valves by hand no drill . Hit them all with 350/450/700/1000 grit diamond lapping paste . This was the only valve seat that had this problem

 Time-Serts for stock head bolt size are  M11x1.5 & measures 30mm long .My m113 cylinders head bolt holes measure to 85mm deep with  38mm of original threads in the aluminum block starting at 47mm deep .

Here is one installed , don’t mind the reflection it’s center . All said & done I was able to get the top of all 20 Time-Serts in The exact location as the original threads , that’s exactly 47mm deep . regardless the Time-Serts are only 30mm long so the bottom of the cylinder head bolt holes , more specifically the last 8mm of the hole or 6 threads on the bolt aren’t threaded.

When the insert is installed in the block the head bolt can thread all the way through the end if necessary . I can’t show that because the insert tool opens up the end of the insert during installation & that’s what locks the insert in the work piece permanently.
