This article applies to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300/C400 and AMG w205 (2014-Present).

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a luxury vehicle that offers both safety, performance, and efficiency. With the advent of more pristine, powerful engines and innovative technological features, maintenance is important when it comes to ensuring the longevity of your w205. Because they are more difficult to repair and service yourself, later generation C-Class vehicles require proper as well as regular maintenance done at an official Mercedes-Benz service center. As these vehicles are designed for luxury and ease, make sure yours stays that way. This article will have a detailed list of the maintenance schedules in order to keep your C-Class up and running.

Maintenance Schedules and Services

Figure 1 (below) is the official Mercedes-Benz maintenance schedule.

Additional Maintenance

These are additional regular maintenance schedules that must be taken, which are not included in the table above.

  • Replace spark plugs every three years or 46,500 miles.
  • Replace transmission fluid and filter every five years or 77,500 miles.
  • Replace fuel filter every 10 years or 124,000 miles.

It's critical that your Mercedes-Benz specialist check the O-ring on the housing on your vehicle's oil filter as well. It ensures that the oil filter is sealed properly, and must be replaced after each oil change.

Dealership Service Plans

Mercedes-Benz dealerships offer prepaid service plans, which range from dealer to dealer. Generally, there are four available plans with longer coverage at higher prices, and a few additional maintenance services. As many C-Class (w205) owners lease their vehicles, prepaid service plans beyond the 3-year/30,000 mile coverage may be a bit excessive. Here are the two service plans most commonly purchased among w205 owners:

Service Plan A – 1-year/10,000 mile maintenance coverage

  • Change the engine oil and oil filter.
  • Inspect the brake fluid.
  • Inspect the front and rear brake pads for thickness (and replace if needed).
  • Inspect the engine coolant (and replace if needed).
  • Inspect the air filter (and replace if needed).
  • Rotate and inflate tires to the proper PSI.
  • Perform an active body control inspection.
  • Inspect the wiper washer system, and top off washer fluid as needed.
  • Inspect the engine hood safety latches.
  • Reset maintenance indicator.

Approximate cost of Service Plan A (dependent on dealership): $300+

Service Plan B – 2-year/20,000 mile maintenance coverage

  • Replace the brake fluid.

Common Questions

How Do I Know When to Have My C-Class Serviced?

Make an appointment with your Mercedes-Benz specialist to have your vehicle serviced according to your regular maintenance schedule. After inspecting your vehicle, your technician will notify you of the inspections, maintenance service performed, and what is required in the future.

Should I Have My C-Class Serviced at a Mercedes-Benz Service Center?

Mercedes-Benz technicians undergo regular testing and training programs to ensure they are knowledgeable about new as well as specific Mercedes-Benz vehicles. However, if searching for an outside Mercedes-Benz certified service shop, be sure sure it has reputable coverage and services. Faulty or inexact replacements and repairs could lead to premature engine wear down the line.

When Should I Have the Tires Rotated?

Generally, the tires in your C-Class should be rotated very 10,000 miles. During your scheduled visit to the Mercedes-Benz technician, tires will be inspected and rotated as needed.

Common Issues

Check Engine Light Appears

Your check engine light (CEL) can appear for a number of reasons. However, the most likely culprit is the indication for an engine oil change. Make an appointment with your nearest service center to have your vehicle serviced.

Low Fuel Economy

Low fuel economy is most likely the result of low tire pressure. Your C-Class might also require new engine oil. Have your vehicle checked if you are behind on your regularly scheduled maintenance.
