A and B Services 0n a 2015 C300

What are the average costs associated with the dealer doing the A and B services. I have always done my own automotive work and am contemplating doing the same on our 2015 W205.

I don't know if these are typical or not but my dealer quoted $250 for "A" service and $700 for "B" service. My dealer covers the fluid portion of the 1st two services so each of the above is reduced by $150. I plan to pay for the first three services then purchase a 3 year prepaid service plan that will cover two "B" services and one "A" service. I will keep this car for 6 to 7 years.

Do you have to purchase the prepaid service from the dealership that will be doing the service or is it like the extended warranty where you can purchase it from any mercedes dealership?

My understanding is any dealer can sell one to you at any time prior to your 4 year service. There is only about $100 markup for the dealer so don't expect much of a discount.

Is anything else included in A or B service other than below? The price differance between A and B is due to a brake fluid change, and the activated cabin charcoal filter change?

My maintenance book looks like it calls for an air filter and spark plug change at 46,500 miles/3 years, transmission fluid and filter change at 77,500 miles/5 years, and fuel filter and coolant change at 124,000 miles/10 years. This seem correct? Anything I missed?

I have a C300 on order from EuroMotorcars in Germantown, MD. I called their service department to check the maintenance prices.
Service A: $309.88
Service B: $654.00

I believe the MBUSA.com sites quotes the 4 year Service Plan at $1275. If so, that would be an approximate savings of $652.76 by paying up front.

Is that $1275 a realistic price? Has anyone gotten the plans discounted?

It's the price I paid. I was told the fourth service is like $1000.

These prices seem ridiculous for what boils down to an oil change. I am planning on taking the vehicle to the local Shell station for basic maintenance. Any reason to take it to the dealer, and pay extortion prices, that I am not considering?

I also purchased an extended warranty, which I don't think would be affected as long as I keep maintenance receipts.

Prepaid Maintenance if Leasing

By leasing, the cost of prepaid maintenance is residualized as part of the lease. I added it to my lease, the cost works out to be $7 per month or $252.00 over 36 months.

Yeah, I doubt they can rewrite a lease after-the-fact.

I told the finance guy I didn't want any extras, like paint protection and all that. But after he explained about the lease and prepaid maintenance it made complete sense to add it.

Can anyone confirm that 5 year/77,000 mile interval for the first transmission oil change? Because the W204 C class has it's transmission oil and filter changed at 40,000 miles. That is a big discrepancy!

If you have the prepaid maintenance plan, does it cover the additional items (say the tranny oil change) due at that milestone? Or do you just get the basic A or B service, and pay extra for the additional required work.

Edit: Did some research. The w205 has the 722.9 Plus. They changed the fluid specs when they added stop/start, hence the difference in the schedule to change the tranny fluid vs the w204.

I ended up paying the same that is listed on MBUSA ($1275). Seems like it should save some money down the road, but that is only if you plan on servicing the car at the dealership. I'm sure it can be done else where for cheaper...

The risk of buying is that there is no refund say if the car is a total loss say due to a wreck or theft.

If that were to happen, I'd be way more concerned about getting a proper amount of money for the car itself from the insurance company, than the $1,300 for the prepaid maintenance. That's a drop in the bucket compared to tens of thousands for the car.

One upside of buying prepaid service is insulation from labor rate increases which are bound to happen over a 4, 5, 6 or 7 year ownership. This is in addition to the savings at the current labor rates.

Hmmm, I'm not sure the local service or quick lube would be able to do the old change, doesn't it require an extractor? An option if you didn't go to dealer may be an independent Euro car garage, usually staffed by previous dealer techs who opened their own shop.

I don't know about the 6 cyl. but the I4 is a piece of cake doing the oil change.

My dealership told me I must bring the car in to a MB dealership for servicing to avoid risk of voiding warranty.

He meant to avoid him losing his profit margin. Use oem filters and MB recommended oils and they cannot void the warranty. Make sure you save the receipts. I staple them in the service log.

My previous car was an ML63, and the local shop changed the oil and never mentioned any concerns about using an extractor. It's possible that they weren't doing it right.

It's been a long time since I changed the oil on my own car. It was as simple as unscrewing a drain plug in the oil pan, and removing the filter.

My understanding is that by law, the warranty cannot be voided if you show proof that the service was done.

I wouldn't worry about warranty, and would keep all receipts and documentation. I would be concerned with the possibility 'they weren't doing it right'. And, with MB service tech, might find another issue or programming need that you wouldn't get otherwise. Not selling or overtly advising anything...just going through the mental motions before I shell out money for my services down the road too.

I drive a 2015 C400. I had my 20,000 ("B") service performed today at Seattle MB.

The total cost was $581.19.

Itemized as follows:
All filters and checks for B service: $220 labor, $134.07 parts
Renewing brake fluid: $132 labor, $19.21 parts
Shop Supplies used: $25

Tax was also included into my total at $50.91 but will vary depending on region. Sometimes shop supplies are included in labor costs as well but not in my case and generally not for dealership services.

Getting ready to do my first Service B at 20K miles.

Oil and filter, both cabin filters, and brake fluid change, correct? Or also the engine air filter? I think that is changed at 40K?
