Change Your W124’s Cabin Air Filters

By -

They’re Easy to Overlook, Because They Are Out of Sight and Mind. But If You Have a W124 Chassis, Changing Your Cabin Air Filters Is a Must

Cabin air filters are one of the most neglected maintenance parts when it comes to regular service intervals. A problem arises for W124 owners, because some cars had them, and other cars didn’t. Cars made later in the production run obviously were equipped with them.

Determining if your E-Class actually has them is quite simple, as you can see in the video above. Shine a flashlight down one of the fresh air vents next to the base of the windshield wiper, and you should be able to see the elements of the filter.

Set aside an hour to complete this, especially if it is your first time. The lengthy time is the biggest deterrent to changing the filters. But in this photo, you can see all of the junk that builds up. Our bet is that you probably wouldn’t want to be breathing all of that dust.
