Bolt-On E55 AMG Road Races Supercharged Cobra Mustang
Occasionally you might find yourself immersed in some tomfoolery, as we see here in the video below. Full use of the throttle probably happens more than we are willing to admit, especially when lined up at a red light next to anything that has a decent amount of grunt. This W211 E55 AMG has some bolt-ons, but the Cobra is equipped with a Whipple supercharger and a bit more aggressive drag slicks than the Benz.
The race is at an undisclosed location, and though we don’t condone street racing, it is interesting seeing the outcome of this acceleration contest. For science. Unfortunately, this test went in favor of the Ford, as it launched hard and pulled harder. The much heavier E55 didn’t go down without a fight, though, giving the Mustang a decent run for its money.
Gloat while you want, Mustang fans. I’m sure this one will be back. Personally I’d like to see what this AMG can do at the strip. The E55 isn’t slow by any means, and modifying the M113k engine should yield some good power increases. Throw on some street radials, and you’ll have one quick machine.
