Mercedes Reveals the AMG GT

Teased no longer! Finally, Mercedes has taken the tarp, paint, and silly green zebra camo off the new AMG GT. And it is … interesting? OK, so I will admit I thought I knew what the car would look like even with the camo on, but the front looks wildly different than what I thought it would look like. Not so much of the grille and front fascia, but rather how long that nose is. Seriously, from the pictures, it looks like an aircraft carrier.

Now, I will withhold judgment until I actually see this in person, but it does look a bit long in the tooth. The rest is all pretty good-looking, though. It definitely has a few 911 and F-TYPE bits thrown into it. This is especially pertinent since that’s what it will be going up against.  It looks mean, and muscular, but has a flowy side-body line that also is reminiscent of the original 300SL.

My biggest issue is with the interior. My God, is it busy! Seriously, the center stack looks like some sort of weird spider alien that got mutated only in its eyes. Four central HVAC outlets, the stupid-looking iPad control system, a mouse, the gear selector, and four buttons on each side of the center console.

Did they get a deal on buttons or something?

I’m still a bit on the fence with this car. On one hand, it sounds good, but at the same time, there are some pretty glaring issues that I do not like. I guess I’ll just have to see whether it can win me over when I see it in person, or get to drive it. Meanwhile, what do you all think? Hot, or NOPE?
