Teased no longer! Finally, Mercedes has taken off the tarp, paint, and silly green zebra camo off the new AMG GT. And it is….Interesting? Ok, so I will admit that I thought I knew what the car would look like even with the camo on, but the front looks wildly different than what I thought it would look like. Not so much of the grille and front fascia, but rather how long that nose is. Seriously, from the pictures, it looks like an aircraft carrier.

It definitely doesn't look nearly as aggressive as the SLS AMG GT. There were a lot more defining, aggressive body lines on every panel of the SLS but there don't seem to be as many on the AMG GT. Overall, it is alright in my opinion. It is still a badass car though.

If this is going to be a lower end sports car like slotting in under the sls (technically whatever replaces the sls) I guess it is cool but if this is really the direct replacement for the sls, disappointing!

Mercedes Reveals the AMG GT
Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful.... I would soon get used to the buttons...you will learn one day that nothing worth using will be simple to operate. This car was not designed for the simple-minded, was it?

AMG SLS & S coupe
I think I'll keep my SLS. To me, it looks like an SLS from the front and front quarter. The roadster version will look even more like one.

I agree, the interior is a mess. Don't like the rear end either. Looks like it got kicked in the butt. The rest of the car looks good though. Definitely has 911/Jag cues but still strong MB bones.

I agree with most of the posts and the author's observations. The look is very dated. Seems like they had a design lying around that nobody knew what to do with, so they built it. The influences of the 911 rear-end and the F-type front-end are so striking, it is shameful. It makes the car a rolling advertisement for Porsche and Jaguar. The center stack in the interior definitely looks like something from an alien starship. Whoever approved that design was smoking the landscaping. This is so un-Mercedes, it is a bad joke. At the price this car will sell for, I cannot image it to be a success. It is a mess no matter how you look at it.

I like it overall but wish it was a bit more aggressive. Nothing the black series can't fix.
I am a bit disappointed with the power output as it seems they did not want it to be better than the SLS. They probably keep the high power output for the BS and future updates.
Pricing will have a lot to do with its success. It needs to be kept in the low 120s to compete with 911S and Jag F types.

AMG REVEALED
M-B has modeled it's car to be in competition with others from Deutschland and attempting to increase its audience volume. I believe they accomplished that in appearance.

I'm disappointed with the 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds. That's pretty quick, but when heavy sedans are running the same or faster for 75 grand less it just makes me scratch my head.

It kills me when people call a sleek classy look dated. Today's car are so full of creases it looks like they came out of a car crusher, then stretched back out again. The tasteful creases made mainstream by Cadillac with the CTS have been so over exaggerated cars now look like cartoons. Just me personally, but aggressive looks aren't just a bunch of creases and overblown steroidal proportions. If you ever see one of these in person, it'll look plenty aggressive.

The design is very "over-cooked." I would hope some day to find some elegance return to the SL series. This looks like a study in disconnected parts. And the interior lacks cohesive design, from the tacked-on screen to the exhaust-pipe vents, it just isn't what I expect from M-B. They need to visit some Italian design studios. Fire the tiger-tank designers, they almost uncovered themselves when they used camo disguise in their testing, now I see why. Put the disguise back on, this is awful.

Moderator: How about a new Forum Section for the new AMG GT?
I'm really interested in this car. Love it! The only other car I'm willing to consider when I look to order a new AMG GT, is the 991Turbo.
Cheers,
BB
